Leading Together: Discovering the Power of Partnership in Ministry

Leadership in Ministry

Leadership in ministry is rarely meant to be done alone. At its best, it is cultivated through intentional partnership through learning from others, walking alongside peers, and discovering how God is at work across a broader community. At The Harbor, we believe that strong leaders are not only formed through personal growth, but through meaningful connection with the wider body of Christ.

The Program Experience

It's throughout this program, participants are invited into a rhythm of shared learning and active engagement. From visiting a variety of churches during cohorts to hearing directly from partnered ministry leaders, each experience is designed to expand a young leaders perspective. These moments allow participants to see firsthand how different communities live out their calling, while also recognizing the unique role they themselves are being prepared to play. Field trips to nonprofits and ministry organizations further deepen this understanding, highlighting the many ways faith intersects with service, leadership, and impact in the world.

Young Leader's Perspective

For Grant, a young leader of the Class of 2026, this journey that has been especially formative. Entering the program with a desire to grow in ministry leadership and better understand how networking plays a role in that calling, he has embraced each opportunity to learn. A recent visit to the Lutheran Foundation was a field trip where he met with President Matt Miller. Through intentional conversation about both the Lutheran Foundation's work and hearing about Matt's experience in nonprofit work, Grant developed a broader understanding of how ministry thrives not only within the church but also how it extends to organizations that enhance and maintain community impact.

What's Possible

Experiences like these continue to shape leaders who are not only equipped, but connected, to be ready to partner with others in meaningful and intentional ways as they step into the work God is calling them to do. As you reflect on your own journey, consider what it might look like to let your faith more intentionally shape how you explore your vocation and future career.

If you're ready to take that next step, we invite you to visit our nomination page and begin the process to be considered for the class of 2027.
